The IALD board of directors has approved an internal energy agenda at its board of directors meeting on October 23. In addition, the organization has initiated a business plan for its Energy Task Force in order to help it better communicate with energy-policy-making bodies around the world. The IALD hopes to adopt the plan at its board meeting in January 2006.
These initiatives are in response to issues brought up at the Town Hall Meeting during the Fifth Annual IALD Education Conference held October 21 and 22 in Alexandria, Virginia, at which conversation was focused on concerns about national energy codes. Attendees called for 'evidence-based standards' and 'feasible and reasonable' sustainability codes. They also encouraged the organization to speak with ôone voiceö in advocating for appropriate standards.
