New Haven, Conn.-based lighting manufacturer Electrix Inc. has announced that as of July 31, 2014, the company’s assets have been acquired by Evolution Lighting LLC and its investor partner Boyne Capital Partners.

Electrix was founded in 1962 by Haim Shwisha (also spelled Swisha). The company evolved in its manufacturing of light fixtures in the 1980s when it began to focus on architectural luminaires. The company continued to grow under the direction of Mr. Shwisha’s two sons, Gordon and Daniel, whom Mr. Swisha had turned the business over to, and the company concentrated on advanced linear LED systems for indoor and outdoor applications. Mr. Swisha assumed leadership of the company in Oct. 2012 after the death of his two sons.

Going forward, Electrix will be renamed Electrix, LLC. Mark Lahner, who was vice president of operations for the company will now serve as president and general manager and continue to build on Electrix’s “reputation of high quality specification lighting products and services.” Electrix’s headquarters, manufacturing facilities, and employees will continue to be located in New Haven.

In a press statement Evolution Lighting said, “Our plans are to invest in the business to develop more innovative architectural lighting products, grow our LED capabilities, and make our customer service the best in the industry.”
