Stan Deutsch Associates (SDA) has selected Brooklyn, N.Y.-based lighting and creative design firm Eclectic Precision (EP) as the winner of its #WorldofLight Design Competition. EP’s lighting installation will be on display Sept. 15 - 17 in the lobby of the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th St., New York City) during the SDA Lighting Showcase 2014.
Eclectic Precision was founded by Brian Fassett and Sepp Spenlinhauer in 2001. Their installation piece, Geometric Garden, incorporates a series of panels embedded with controllable RGB lighting, which are supported by an architectural column-like structure that recalls the form of an abstracted tree. The panels are programmed to change color and pattern and provide a sense of movement in the otherwise static sculpture.
The #WorldofLight Design Competition, sponsored by SDA, asked interior designers, architects, and lighting designers to re-imagine the Metropolitan Pavilion entry space as a “world of light” and to create an inviting focal point for the registration area. The SDA Lighting Showcase is open to New York City area architects, lighting designers, lighting specifiers, and other building and design industry professionals. Registration is required; click here.
