Architect Zaha Hadid, Hon. FAIA, died in Miami on Thursday. Reported by multiple news outlets, her eponymous London-based firm confirmed the news in an emailed statement: "It is with great sadness that Zaha Hadid Architects have confirmed that Dame Zaha Hadid, DBE died suddenly in Miami in the early hours of this morning. She had contracted bronchitis earlier this week and suffered a sudden heart attack while being treated in hospital." The firm's website was down for a period on Thursday morning, and now displays the firm's statement on the architect's death. Hadid received numerous accolades in her lifetime, including the RIBA Gold Medal in 2016 and the 2004 Pritzker Architecture Prize.
