Cooper Industries acquired Illumination Management Solutions, an Irvine, Calif.-based a company known for its specialized optics and system design for LED fixtures. The acquisition will allow Cooper to bring more LED-based solutions to the market.
Philips Lumileds has joined the California Lighting Technology Center as an affiliate member. As a member, Philips Lumileds is working with luminaire manufacturers to develop market-ready Luxeon LED-based applications that meet lighting quality and energy efficiency levels that are required for EnergyStar and other regional and national guidelines.
Wybron recently made some of its products available online, such as color changers, luminaires, mounting brackets, and other accessories. The full line of the company's products will be available only through distributors or Wybron's internal sales team.
The DOE has awarded Philips Color Kinetics for "Significant Achievement in Solid-State Lighting Research and Development," which recognizes the company for its progress on an 18-month project intended to produce an efficient LED PAR lamp. Test results show that the lamp being developed already is more efficient than comparable LED PAR38 lamps currently on the market, and four to five times more efficient than incandescent lamps. Traxon Technologies, an Osram joint-venture company, has opened a Midwest region sales office in Chicago that will be managed by Boyd Corbett, who has more than 30 years of experience in the lighting industry. The Chicago office will drive the sales efforts of the company's architectural and systems divisions in the central part of the United States.
Training seminars on public and urban exterior lighting and tunnel lighting solutions are part of Schréder Lighting USA's 2009 offerings. All programs will be held at the Schréder Lighting facility, which is located near Chicago. The full 2009 seminar schedule can be downloaded online.
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association has published ANSI C12.22, Protocol Specification for Interfacing to Data Communication Networks. This application-level standard details the process of transporting C12.19 table data over a variety of networks, and it will advance interoperability among communications modules and meters.
