The Lighting Research Center (LRC) in Troy, N.Y. is holding its annual series of fall lighting institutes, which focus on different areas of investigation such as photometry, LEDs, light and health, and outdoor lighting. This year’s schedule is as follows:
Sept. 30 – Oct. 1: Photometry Institute; Early Registration Deadline: Sept. 25
Participants in the Photometry Institute will “learn about the latest developments in photometric testing and evaluation, including new testing requirements for solid-state light sources and systems.”
Oct. 6 – 7: Light and Health Institute; Early Registration Deadline: Sept. 15
The Light and Health Institute addresses the ways in which “…light affects, and can be used to improve, health and wellbeing.”
Oct. 27 – 28: Outdoor Lighting Institute; Early Registration Deadline: Sept. 25
The Outdoor Lighting Institute addresses the knowledge base and skill set necessary for developing “…outdoor lighting installations that substantially reduce energy use and light pollution while improving safety and security.”
Nov. 3 – 5: LED Lighting Institute; Early Registration Deadline: Oct. 9
In the LED Institute, participants learn about the latest advances in LED and OLED technologies. A highlight of the program is that students are able to build their own LED light fixture.
Taught by LRC faculty, the two- and three-day workshops offer individuals working in all aspects of lighting and lighting related fields the opportunity to explore the respective topics in depth.
