Italian lighting manufacturer Foscarini has launched Foscarini Lab, a series of design workshops it will host to draw on the talents of fresh industrial design graduates to generate design concepts. Graduates from various Italian design universities have been invited, at the recommendation of their professors, to participate in these workshops. The workshops will serve as educational experiences for the graduates as well as yielding potential product designs for Foscarini.

The first workshop is scheduled for November 2007 with a focus on product life cycle and sustainability; it will be hosted by architect and designer Marco Zito. During the workshops, participants will conduct team research and produce design proposals for eventual presentation and potential industrial development. In 2008, Foscarini plans to open the invitation list to graduates of international design schools.
