Emerging lighting design professional within their first five years of professional work experience are invited to apply for the International Association of Lighting Designer’s (IALD) Lighting Industry Resource Council’s (LIRC) Emerging Lighting Design Professionals Initiative (ELDPI), which provides financial support to attend either of the IALD’s annual conferences, Enlighten Americas or Enlighten Europe. Interested individuals must complete the application, which are reviewed, and accepted, on a rolling basis. (The application process began on June 6, 2016.)
As noted on the IALD website, “Applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and participants are encouraged to apply early, as program funds are limited. To ensure the greatest possible participation in this initiative, the first two applicants per lighting design firm will be accepted; subsequent designers from the same firm will be added to a waitlist and may be supported at a later date based on industry interest and as funds permit.”
Recipients receive one full conference registration, an allowance to offset travel expenses, one ticket to the ELDPI reception, and recognition at the conference as an ELDPI.
To be eligible to receive aid from the ELDPI program, applicants must be:
1. Within the first five years of professional, on-the-job practice as an architectural lighting designer
2. A Junior Associate or Associate member of the IALD [or have membership pending review at the time of application to this initiative]
3. A first-time full conference IALD Enlighten attendee [if an applicant attended an IALD Enlighten in the past as a student, they are eligible to participate]
For additional information and to download the application, go to the IALD’s website.
