The winners of three major lighting awards programs-the GE Edison Awards, the International Association of Lighting Designers' Lighting Design Awards, and the Illuminating Engineering Society of America's Lumen Awards-have been announced. 23rd Annual IALD Award Winners
The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) announced the winners of its 23rd Annual Lighting Design Awards at a presentation held during Lightfair International in Las Vegas. This year, projects won in all seven categories, and, for the first time, awards were given for residential and sustainable submissions. Out of 160 entries representing 16 countries, 23 projects took home awards.

2006 Lumen Awards
On June 14, 2006 the Illuminating Engineering Society of America's (IESNA) New York chapter presented its 38th annual Lumen Awards in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. The awards program, part of the International Illumination Design Awards (IIDA) program of the IESNA and begun in 1968, was developed to encourage and publicly recognize excellence, professionalism, ingenuity, and originality in lighting design.

23 Annual GE Edison Awards
The GE Edison Award winners were also announced at Lightfair International in Las Vegas. Three projects received an Awards of Excellence (one of which was chosen as the ultimate winner), while eight others received Awards of Merit, Sustainable Design, or Residential Design (a new category). The annual award program recognizes excellence and quality in professional lighting designs that employ significant and creative use of GE lamps.
